An important feature of such footwear is certainly a sturdy sole that can withstand rough road conditions, gasoline, and spilled oil. The advantage of this is that when you stop and need to come to a complete halt, your foot won’t slip where you don’t want it to. A reinforced heel, toe, and ankle, as well as shin protection, are standard features of this type of footwear. When choosing boots at a brick-and-mortar store, it’s best to bring your motorcycle pants with you—mainly to ensure the pant legs fit properly into the boots and don’t get in the way anywhere. Everyone knows that a boot will stretch a bit once you’ve broken it in. With this type of footwear, however, every serious motorcyclist knows that the boot won’t stretch in length—it will only stretch across the instep and in width. That’s why you should never buy boots that fit just right—you’ll end up with problems in the toes and heel. Like motorcycle clothing, motorcycle boots are highly breathable, snug, and sturdy. Hiking boots, on the other hand, are heavier but waterproof. On the other hand, urban boots designed for riding a motorcycle are stylish, lightweight, and comfortable for both walking and riding. A SIMPLE CLASSIFICATION OF THE MOST COMMONLY USED BOOTS BY MOTORCYCLE TYPE Road and sport boots— This category includes all types of boots,so this category is very broad, ranging from very stiff “supersport” boots with protectors and sliders (replaceable protectors for the toes and heels) to soft sports, touring, and travel boots. They are more suitable for racing or for road “supersport” bikes. Sport, touring, and travel boots – These boots are primarily suitable for road riding; they do not have sliders and feature a smooth sole. Incidentally, walking in these boots is very comfortable. They’re also suitable for use on touring enduros or choppers. Touring— These boots are primarily designed for large touring enduros and feature a rugged sole. In most cases, they fasten at the front with buckles. Scooter, Casual Boots— These are typically low-cut, ankle-high sport-touring boots, or they may even resemble sneakers. But don’t forget that these boots also have reinforced toes and heels. They are best suited for short rides or for riding a scooter. Motocross, Enduro, ATV (all-terrain vehicles), Supermoto – These are very sturdy, off-road boots. If money is no object, or if you truly want only the best in this category, you can even purchase this type of footwear in a jointed design. BOOT SIZES There is no universal size chart for purchasing this type of boot, but you’ll find one on every online store. The downside is that every manufacturer has different shoe widths and lengths, and it can even happen that models from the same manufacturer differ—sometimes by as much as one or two sizes. WHEN ORDERING ONLINE, I RECOMMEND INCLUDING A NOTE WITH THE LENGTH OF YOUR FOOT!!! That way, you won’t have to go through the tedious and, above all, unnecessary process of returning the shoes you bought. I wish you the best of luck with your selection and many kilometers of riding.
