. The willingness to learn about financial literacy in our country is declining. Our ability to manage our finances well is below average. The most at-risk groups are, in addition to people with lower incomes, also children. This is the result of a survey conducted and analyzed by an authorized agency.
Schools are beginning to take on the responsibility for the financial education of young people. In collaboration with the banking sector, an interactive online game with elements of financial literacy, titled The Mysterious Journey, was created.
Through it, the bank aims to introduce young people—and others—to the world of finance. The game takes players to London, where they’ll encounter not only adventure but also real-life situations, such as choosing the best currency exchange, a mobile plan, paying for public transportation, or opening a bank account. The game promotes logical thinking, but thanks to its excellent graphics and engaging storyline, it can truly captivate players. And it doesn’t matter how old they are. The whole family can play.![]()
The idea of an interactive approach to financial education is also supported by the City Hall, which has granted its patronage to the bank’s educational program. It thus acknowledges that the use of the board game Financial Freedom—with which many Czech schools have had positive experiences—as well as the new online game The Mysterious Journey, is a path to strengthening financial literacy.
The ability to manage one’s own finances is just as important as learning to read and write. That is why it is important to teach financial literacy as early as possible.
The competition that took place proved this, as a large number of participants signed up for the game. Thousands of young people completed The Mysterious Journey through London, applying all their knowledge of the world of finance and discovering both the beauty and the pitfalls of London. Valuable prizes were prepared for the fastest and most accurate players. The grand prize was a financial contribution toward a trip for the entire class.
